arboricity™ is a suite of analytical services offered to the water industry, centred around near realtime, calibrated hydraulic models. This is delivered utilising a cloud platform (congruity™) currently deployed in production on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Kubernetes (GKE).
Job Description
Purpose of the Role
The Control Engineer role for arboricity™ within Inflowmatix will:
- Develop numerical algorithms for determining the physical state of water supply networks and their optimal control
- Monitor the online performance of these algorithms and make improvements where necessary
Reports to: arboricity™ Technical Lead
Reportees: None at present
Location: Based working from home although it is expected the role will necessitate travelling to meetup with the arboricity™ team from time to time at a mutually convenient location.
Overnight stays will not be necessary to fulfil this role effectively (save for such team sessions indicated above).
Objectives
The objective for the Control Engineer is to:
- Build algorithms for the near real time model calibration and optimal control of water supply networks
- Combine traditional approaches in control theory applied to physical systems with data science approaches, such as scientific machine learning, by working with data scientists and hydraulic engineers
- Produce well structured code that can run reliably in an online environment

Skills and Experience: Essential
- Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics or similar discipline
- 3+ years of experience working with mathematical optimisation
